I missed the beginning of Rudy's keynote, but caught up with him part-way through. I was listening in my car radio, at 10:15 at night, on the way back home from my second job ( Read more... )

"I thought there would be some sort of introductory video or something for Sarah Palin, but I guess they didn't have time."

Supposedly they had a video, but had to bump it because Rudy et al ran late.

I hear John McCain got his Boom shot off in the Boom.

And here I thought only Bill Clinton ran late.

Does that make John McCain the Boom King?

Quite a while, I should think. That's actually how I recognized him on the radio. And then he started in on the 9/11 stuff, so it had to be him.

I actually caught the speech on the radio halfway through and wondered why Charles Grodin was speaking at the Republican National Convention.

I missed the speech, but have been hearing quips all morning on NPR. My immediate reaction is "whine, much?"

You mean they were whining or they thought she was whining? She didn't seem to be whining much to me. Most of the whining I've heard is from her (new) supporters whining that "liberals" keep attacking her because she's a woman. Not that they ever attacked Hillary at all. Ever. Or attacked Hillary for whining about being attacked because she's a woman.

I suspect that it is partly my reaction to her accent, and partly to the tone of her barbs - she came across to me as whiny and mean and vindictive (and passive aggressive) and not someone I'd want to spend any time with at all. Toxic.

I wonder if there's a gender gap there. I'm reading about lots of women who felt the same way, but I didn't really get that from her much at all. I caught the sarcasm, obviously, but I thought it was pretty effective. Then again, I'm a huge fan of sarcasm.

I wouldn't want to hang out with her or get anywhere near one of her hockey games. Beauty queens are to be looked at, not listened to. Anybody that's listened to a beauty queen can tell you that's not sexist, just wisdom born of experience.
