first impression of the second debate

My friends, did anyone else get the feeling that John McCain is a lot like the sweet, old grandpa at a wedding? He totters around from table to table, talking to everyone with a genuine joviality even if he doesn't know them but calls them by name anyway, my friends. All of the answers are seekrit, silly, on both sides. Neither one of them will really tell us because that spoils the surprise.

I had a teacher in high school who said that was the key to Reagan - he was like grandpa. He told good stories and everyone loved him, but grandpa was old and therefore everyone knew he couldn't really be held responsible for the things he did because no one can blame grandpa.

And no one wants to hurt his feelings, so they go along with him and spend as much time with him as they can so they won't regret it later when he's gone.

He does have an answer. It's de-regulation and privatization. Is it any wonder he doesn't want to say it right now?
