When I read the blog prompt regarding the positive influence Science has had on the world I can not imagine writing about anything else but the two little boys I know who are only living thanks to Science and its effect on technology and medicine. Very nice story- thanks for sharing!
I agree in many ways, but I also find myself wondering about incidences when science is questionable. For example, look at the ways we've used atomic energy or combustible engines; does the good outweigh the bad?

While writing my blog entry on the benefits of science and since my stories were particularly involved with the development of medical sciences I remember I had wanted to mention that while medicine today with all the technological advances can do amazing things and saves so many lives but I also have a question mark over the negative uses of medicine in particular. It is really a moral question and I don't have any answers but I am bothered by the use of medicine in prolonging the lives of those who can not really live. There was the recent example of the intervention of president Bush with the family of the woman in a coma, later she was removed from the life support system. I had at the time of writing that blog been listening to the radio about how US soldiers are returning from Iraq in such terrible states of health. They are alive (barely)and so the numbers reported of fatalities there is lower than it would be yet these men and women come home to a fate some would deem worse than death.
