Impressed with your no new books for over two years! I haven't counted my unread books, but I suspect there are more than 48. I have cut back on buying new ones, but part of the charm of reading is discovering new books, so as a compromise I try and get book club books from the library and allow myself to browse when picking them up (and get the odd one from charity shops when dropping things off, it's for a good cause...)

The book-buying ban started because we were getting married and needed to save money! Since then we've moved to a smaller house so we have less space to store books (and are spending all our space cash on house repairs). So I have had new books since the start of the ban, but only as presents from other people :) Library books aren't included in the ban, so I've been able to keep up with new books that way too.
I have to avoid second-hand bookshops and charity shops, as they are just too tempting!

A recommendation on the YA books is 'Jellicoe Road' you don't need to be into YA books, just great reading experiences to appreciate it.
Congratulations on your marriage! Guess a common love of books and reading beat the strategy of marrying someone who's not into books to leave more room for our own books ;)
