What do we want? Homosexuality! When do we want it? Often!

I am pretty sure I read somewhere (cbc.com?) Harper saying they'd grandfather existing marriages.

I wonder if, for immigration purposes, they'd honour marriages in other countries? Our immigration law is already pretty liberal in this respect (people who've cohabited for a certain length of time are allowed to use the spousal rules, though iirc there's a higher standard and more hoops to jump through).

Do you mean will Canada accept same-sex marriage during the immigration process? I don't see how they could at this time not accept it. But how many countries recognise same-sex marriage? Spain... Who else?

If you mean will other countries accept same-sex marriages performed in Canada? I doubt it.

And that when two men get married neither of them can do so for free?

I remember reading about a gay couple in NS who were doing a court challenge because of this. Not sure how it turned out though.

And yeah, Joanne is right. Harper said the pre-existing marriages would be grandfathered. This is why there was apparently a sudden spike in gay weddings following the election.

I am trying to convince larva that we should each take the first half of the other's last name, and keep the second half of our own. Either that, or alternate letters. That would be hilarious romantic.
