I haven't seen the Golden Compass yet but a brief commentary from my housemate is that the movie is one... if you haven't read the books it's pretty awesome, if you have read the books its disappointing.
As well, they apparently spoil the second two books with the first movie... which seems strange but its a complaint some people have of it.
I really need to read a plot review to see what the movie is about. XD
Pulling away from themes in the book is pretty disappointing. I'm glad the HP movies are growing darker just as the books did. So I'm pretty happy about that.
One reflection on Heroes that I do have is that... I enjoy the Adam story arc. The last two or three episodes really made it interesting. However, it dragged horribly and the fact that very few characters in this show actually die... is getting a bit frustrating. Let's not turn Heroes into Dragon Ball Z!
I read they really changed the ending, that the first book ended depressingly and with a revenge angle, rather than all optimistic.
I'm glad about how the HP books grew up and how the movies are following that trend too. It's really cool to see how far the characters have come, physically and emotionally.
re: Heroes -- for serious, lol. I hope it gets awesome again, that's all I can even say at this point.
