Well, I guess because it's a different world... I've done both, and it truly is a different skill set. Quite often it works the other way around as well, floor nurses also don't like ER nurses... here's the basic underlying cause: Floor nursing is often like babysitting, a comfortable skill set on the same run of patients. ER nursing is like a constant test, a much broader skill set is used consistently and on an ever-changing set of patients. It's not really a 'hate' thing... it's got more to do with lack of understanding by both sides... :)
