First off, good guess... lol. I'm not entirely certain it would have been appropriate to sign a post that didn't contain a single word of my own, but by now that's a moot point ( ... )

You noted that you did not say there 'should be no criticism of the President', however the second factor, standing by the President right or wrong, is much more applicable. Of course, no President is right all the time, nor is any person, to assume such a thing would be ridiculous. In fact, our entire system of government is based upon the understanding that we must carefully balance powers in order to ensure none may act disasterously. But even with this design, it is fully acknowledged that no member in public office has ever acted infallibly, no one would even suggest such a thing. Which is why TR is so emphatic that we understand as members of the American public that criticism of the American President is not only acceptable but necessary in a free society. Several times in the history of our country, perspective of the President has become so inflated that a significant portion of the population has desired to raise the position to royalty. Furthermore, some Presidents have been able to effectively appeal to the hearts ( ... )
