Did make for interesting reactions, but he was such a funny little Governor in the first one, and I would have liked him to survive to pester Elizabeth for a while longer.

I'm looking forward to the inevitble humor fic where Will picks up The Guv to ferry him to the Other Side and has to explain about having Death for a son-in-law ...

And "Daddy Lives in the Bathtub?" FTW.

Oh, me too! Would love to read that conversation. It's starting to get a little Pratchett-esque...his Death has a granddaughter, and the granddaughter has some supernatural powers. Hmm-wonder if anything could rub off on mini-Will?

Heh.

So many interesting points here!

First of all-WHAT WERE THEY DOING AND WHY DID THEY THINK IT WOULD MAKE ANYONE HAPPY?!?

Exactly. But, like you, I found things to enjoy.

On the subject of one Theodore Groves... I think he has potential for being good. I was waiting for the Pearl to have to pull him out of the water and for him to fanboy over Jack in person, but alas, I was disappointed. Why were Murtogg and Mulroy the only Navy men who got to turn pirate? *pout*

Anyway, I think that Theo had very little use for Beckett. It shows in every scene he has with the man. I especially choose to interpret his incredulous expression when Beckett says the line about Jack thinking he's going to honor the agreement as, "Beckett made a deal with Jack? And he's not going to keep it? What the heck am I doing under the thumb of this odious, deceptive little man?"

Besides, Theo is the one who gives the order to abandon ship when Beckett is useless and about to get them all killed. My boy is SMART.

Yay for redeemed!Theo =)
"Beckett made a deal with Jack? And he's not going to keep it? What the heck am I doing under the thumb of this odious, deceptive little man?"
That is a much better interpretation than what I got from it-I was thinking, "He's agreeing with Becket, nononono!" but it could really work the other way. Next time I see it I'll have Theo's thoughts processes going something more like, "Becket made a deal with Jack Sparrow? I can't imagine Jack having anything to do with Becket-Jack is awesome! Wait, why am I having anything to do with Becket? I want out!"
I read what you said about Theo on your journal, too, and it made me feel lots better...thanks for that!
*hugs image of Theo in a feathered hat and an earring*

The song does mention Fiddler's Green.

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high.
Heave ho,
thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her Bones.
The seas be ours
and by the powers
where we will well roam.

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.

Some men have died
and some are alive
and others sail on the sea
- with the keys to the cage...
and the Devil to pay
we lay to Fiddler's Green!

The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,
pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home!

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high...
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.

Hehe, I just read your profile-if I changed the location and family details and swapped Andy Roddick for Roger Federer, it could pretty much be my own-even our birthdays are within a couple of weeks! I'm off to friend you now =) How did you get to know Charity, if you don't mind me asking?

"how can anyone say he isn't beautiful? "

This was I think my mantra thoughout he film, I think at one point, the meeting on the whilte strip of sand I think my heart actually stopped for a moment in awe of his beauty.

Given that I'd read every spoiler going my heart still broke when he was killed. I've just read a post from someone who said she had seen a shooting script which made it clear that the job was for ever and that it was just a one day every ten years visitation rights. But could they be that cruel? Maybe that's why any lines confirming that were dropped.

Yes, I had a couple of those "Wow, there actually IS such a thing as breath-taking beauty" moments, too ;)

I had been spoiled, but in a "they wouldn't do that, it can't really be true" kind of way, so when I saw the inevitable approaching I did a lot of whimpering. And crying. For a few horrible seconds I was terrfied that they were going to leave him dead, after which CotFD seemed pretty good. But his poor heart!

It did end up pretty ambiguous, especially with what Swann and Bootstrap said, but at least half of T&T seems to support the "he's back for good" theory. Canonically I suppose that means neither is ruled out, but then so much of this fandom has already been about viewer interpretation rather than writer intention, I imagine it would have stayed that way however concrete they were =)
