How funny, I was just saying last night how much I love our library! Admittedly it is pretty poor for good fiction, but you can order just about any book and they will get it from another library. I've had quite a few like that. I love the fact that it is always busy, especially the reference/computer room upstairs. And yeah, the kids section is particularly good. However, now they are slashing Children's Centres, of which the library is one, I expect that part will go downhill rapidly.

Yes I suppose I could order books. It was just massively frustrating how few there were actually there. The upstairs was amazingly busy though.

I love books. My library is well stocked on a lot of subjects. It's often worth while finding when they have an 'old stock' sale. You can get some gude reedin'

I'm lucky that there's a Carnegie library just a short par 4 golf hole north of me. They were doing a house cleaning and putting the basement books out on the sidewalk for giveaway back in '92. I found a first edition 1933 hardback of "Lost Horizon," and awkwardly walked off with it feeling that I'd just stole it. But forgot to hide it in my stash. So it ended up sold for 10 cents in my mom's next garage sale, damn her ( ... )
