Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

madwitch gave me: Jeeves & Wooster
Ah, that quintessentially English comedy. The association probably stems from a barbecue we had at Evil2 one summer. As appropriate to the weather I was wearing linen trousers, white collarless shirt and Panama hat (a real one, all the way from Ecuador). So I looked somewhat the part. Of course, whilst I was aiming for 'erudite and charming', I missed slightly, and hit 'well meaning but slightly bumbling'. Setting fire to the grass was where it all began to go wrong, really... So henceforth from that day, when medusa_nw couldn't remember my surname, I was "Oh, you know, Steve... Steve Wooster" and I understand I am still so described in her phone today.

If only I had a Jeeves to get me out of trouble.

2) Con X
What a lovely game it is. I'm playing in an altogether too occasional Con X game that madwitch runs, together with souldestruction & vilenspotens. Those two are, respectively, a sociopathic wet-work special forces type and an overly emotional (big girl's blouse) ex-soldier who saw his entire unit wiped out by Saurians, has been fitted with Atlantean nano-tech and flies an Aurora but still doesn't believe in Aliens *sigh*. I'm an experimental biologist (think Josef Menegele or Shiro Ishii, but without the infrastructure) who recently came to shamanic ritual magic through the scientific method (long story).

Our interactions generally have madwitch in stitches. Imagine The X-Files meets Top Gun and you won't be very far wrong. We had a damn montage for Christ's sake!

3) Cunning and possibly evil plans
We'll I'd call them 'thought experiments' rather than 'plans' necessarily, but yes, madwitch and I have spent many a happy hour sitting around in pubs chatting about the world and how to put it right, from the macro right down to the micro...

And I'm not sure I would necessarily call them 'evil' - not from a certain point of view, and morality is (arguably) a subjective thing. I mean, yes, some of the plans do involve some slight (and occasionally considerable) collateral damage, but I can usually mount a valid argument that said collateral damage is an unfortunate, but necessary, by-product on the way to the end result.

And I'm not even sure they're cunning, just applying unusual solutions to traditional problems.

The most worrying thing about my cunning and possibly evil plans were the ones I came up with in relation to the Con-X LARP we proposed to run. I distinctly remember positing something to madwitch and then seeing news reports of that very thing a couple of days later on at least two occasions.

4) Hats
Ah yes, one evening at Dusk I challenged madwitch, to represent the last century through the medium of millinery. IE 10 visits to Dusk, sporting a hat appropriate to each decade. I've agreed to do the same thing but, as a chap, have it considerbaly easier: 00s: top hat; 10s: WWI Royal Artillery cap (as I happen to have one); 20s: Trilby; 30s: Homburg; 40s: WWII RAF cap; 50s: Bowler ; 60s: England football cap; 70s: Balaclava (think about it); 80s: Baseball cap; 90s: Not so sure about this one. Perhaps I could recycle the homburg as it made something of a comeback? Or perhaps a pork-pie hat, instead.

Anyhow, I have it much easier than madwitch does!

5) Wit
This is a difficult one. Wouldn't it be dreadfully gauche to talk about how wonderfully witty I am? Well if madwitch finds me witty then that's a good thing. I simply can't resist a joke if the opportunity is there to make one; especially if it's a cheeky little wordplay or something a little risque - it's going to get me into terrible trouble one day.

But I have a confession - it's not all my own work, I'm afraid. I'm a voracious reader and have a fearsome memory, and I read a lot of very funny stuff by a lot of people far more erudite that me. The net result is that most of the time, when opportunity presents, I have a bon-mot percolating around in my brain for just such an occasion.

So who's next?
