[Garviel is serving a short shift so he doesn't get droned.]

Erebus is here? [His eyes narrow.]

If so... just tell me where. And I will end him.

"This place may BE Erebus. You do know what Erebus is, correct?"

An Astartes like myself.... no. Not like myself. A traitor, a servant of Chaos and Old Night.

"No... The first Erebus, though, to name someone after it. Surely it was foreshadowing of the worst kind if he fell to damn humanity."

[She sips her tea]

"Erebus is the name for a titan, a being of immense power formed before the Gods ruled Olympus. A god of the underworld, who created Tartarus from the despair of humanity. A horrible beast that wishes to awaken Nyx, and bring about the final death of humanity."

[Well, this is interesting. Legault, frankly, has been more bothered by the loss of his things than by the erupting chaos; he's been trained to not be caught, and he's secure in his ability to get out of most fights. Just in case the threats laid out in his letter were true, he'd decided to scope out his target... and, as luck would have it, she has been making no effort to hide herself. Putting on his best gentlemanly smile, he moves to sit across the table from her, lacing his fingers together on top of the table so she can watch his hands.]

Miss, please don't be alarmed, but I have been sent to kill you.

"I had assumed someone would. Now the real question is will you do it for the false offers of the town?"

[She ponders for a moment]

"Would you like me to order some pie and coffee for you? The pecan here is really quite wonderful."

I only kill wicked people, and no longer at the whims of corrupt leaders. I would only truly follow their orders if you fit the profile of someone who had mistreated others to the point that their suffering outweighed your right to live.

[All through this, his tone is pleasant and honest, and there's a part of him that's relieved that she hadn't panicked. He likes her already.]

That would be wonderful, though it would be rude of me not to pay when my mark is so lovely.

"I do not know if I am wicked... I have sent people to kill and die, and fought many nightmares... However, my end goal was simply to keep humanity from being devoured by its darkest desires. Now, this town would have me kill a small girl, but would that not be giving in and becoming a dark desire myself?"

"Of course, payment is a negligible thing, but conversation is an investment in one's soul."
