Canadian elections are on Monday. I don't know about you guys, but everyone I know in my little part of western Canada is voting NDP, which cracks me up, because everyone's like, "I can't stand Layton, but I'll eat my own arm before voting Conservative."

You're going to school out there, right?

I live in the heart of downtown Toronto, so the Conservatives don't have a prayer. Thank the lord. But tomorrow should be interesting to see what happens elsewhere in the country. Meep.

Yup, UoM!

I actually think the government isn't going to change at all, but hey, something exciting might happen.

I don't think your list is depressing.

And what's this about you going to a Western Canuck school? Last I heard was NZ. Yay for Canada! I'm bummed about not being able to vote tomorrow but yes on NDP. I feel like jumping into anyone who sez Conservative. "You want to void my marriage?" I think they'd all be happier in the US.

It's a hugely long story, but I'm happy here in Canada, and that's the most important part. :))

There was actually a guy in the Political Studies class who said he thought that "the Conservatives have some pretty good ideas," and pretty much the entire class jumped on him. There were lots of, "Conservative fucker" and "I can't believe him" going on. It was hilarious.

"Why are you writing 'Lieutenant Colonel Sheppard-McKay'?" She snatched his napkin before he had a chance to even react. He'd forgotten she knew how to read. Stupid Elizabeth and her stupid "a book is a gift you can open again and again" campaign. "'John Sheppard-McKay, Mr John McKay, Mr and Dr McKay'?"

"It's a joke," he said quickly, grabbing the napkin back, shredding it into tiny pieces, and then eating it. "And keep your voice down, will you?"

Her eyes were huge. "I thought you were a homo."

He choked on paper bits. "How do you even know that word?"

"Ronon told me it is a name for a man who courts many women," she said, looking and sounding baffled. "Is that not correct?"

"No. God. It means 'homosexual.' As in, a guy who has sex with other guys."

She stared at him. He stared back. Slowly, she said, "Oh. I see. Now I do not feel so bad about what I have to tell you." Sorry for quoting like, an entire page, but this is the best scene ever. Also, I was just talking to someone yesterday about similarities between the wraith and ( ... )

There are way too many similarities between Buffy and SGA. SGA's the only fandom I've been in where crossovers make probably more sense than regular fanfic. :))

And :x :x :x.

I loved your story so much! Oh Ronon. The way he was written made me love him even more than I already do. I loved the John/Rodney and to many other things to list.
I'm voting Liberal. I'm in a riding that's in a two way race - I like Neil Smith, the NDP guy, but I don't want to waste my vote. I also work for the Liberal Party so it wouldn't be so great to try to vote myself out of a job.
Are you in BC? How Western are you? The Vancouver Center race in an exciting one too watch this year.

Hee, thanks! Ronon cracks me up so bad.

I'm in Winnipeg (Winterpeg, gah), so it's not like anyone but NDP has a chance, but it's still funny to hear people talk about it.

What do you do for the Liberal Party? I'm impressed.

I work for the Young Liberals of Canada. It's a fun job, but the hours have been 22 hours a day 7 days a week for the last month. I go to school out here (UBC) but I cut down to part time so I could work on the election. Mostly I help organize youth events and try to mobilize people to vote strategically and to actually go and vote.
For E-day yesterday I started at 3 in the morning (sober), and got home at 530 the next morning (dropdeadsmashed of my ass.) It was the saddest afterparty ever. It started out optimistic and just ended in a crying drunken mess. Oh Liberals. We drink a lot.
