Well, I'm well and truly wary of this day, now. Wake up yet again to the building shaking and incredible noise from the dump trucks and plows digging layers of dirt off the empty lot across the street to form dikes along the top of the river bluff. Found out that Diana Wynne Jones succumbed to lung cancer today. And then had to scrub the stairs ( Read more... )

Is there a reason you're the one cleaning the carpets in the building? Isn't that the RM's job?

It usually is. But we tracked in some mud the other day, and they don't clean it frequently enough to keep the stains out, so it's part of the building rules that if you track in mud, you have to clean it up, or you get fined. I hadn't thought about the carpet in the hall. So I did that today after she reminded me. Sadly, some of the carpet I cleaned is visibly cleaner than the rest of the landing, but I wasn't going to scrub the whole landing. I've only got the one bottle of Resolve, and scrubbing on hands and knees puts an awful crick in my back. I would have if she'd told me to, but she said not to bother, so. Eh.

Huh. Fair enough. I'm a little surprised that vomiting on the carpet doesn't also qualify under those rules. >.>

Pff. They probably just took the $50 fine rather than clean it up themselves.

Sorry about the mud; that was probably at least partially me. I hadn't noticed there was still some in my boots until I was inside the house, and I didn't think to look in the hall. /Will not happen again

Also, not that I'll be buying any or even requesting one as a gift, but I think the books are cooler in different languages.

So long as you're more aware of it in future, that's all I ask. :)

I like putting them in different languages, but I feel like if the person doesn't speak the language, I need to print off and include a note in the box translating. *laughs* If they already speak a language, I think it would be fun to put the title in that language, like I did for Tanya's book. But for the general populace... I'm not sure.
