Coming soon....

Later this weekend, I'm going to write up a discussion of feminism and relationships in Joss Whedon shows, particularly Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Mostly Buffy. If you have things you'd like me to look into/address in that, feel free to post comments here and I'll try to make sure they get talked about in the post. :D

I think Buffy has some really interesting "Buffy as single" vs "Buffy as partnered" implications...

Do you have Skype? Sistermine, I *miss* you.

I was so focused on the relationships that I don't think I'd looked too closely at the single/partnered binary. I'll have to do that before I post.

Unfortunately I do not have Skype. In fact, I do not have a computer with a working sound card right now. :( I miss you like fire, Sister. <3

While not really relevant to relationship, I'll always applaud Joss for being able to approach girl-in-danger tropes without falling back on Buffy's ladyhood being the thing at risk. Very rarely is sexual violence thrown around, usually just plain old violence. Gratuitous sexual violence is a cheap shot ppl take in tv and movies under the guise that sexual exploitation empowers women, which is not the case. Kicking ass for the sake of kicking ass empowers women and men alike, Joss doesn't sexualize it.

I'm sure you can put this better than me fjkhsd
