I don't really get the hush hush surrounding periods. Women get them, get over it.
I heard on the radio that some grade 6 class somewhere got taught (ALL of them, boys and girls) how a tampon works, and parents were flipping out being all "I don't want my son to know that!". Well maybe he should. Maybe it'll make men be less EW OMG LOLZ WOMEN HAVE PERIODS HAHEHAHE GROOOOOSSS.
The whole attitude just cheeses me off.
If women have to live with it, men should at least have to learn about it!
*laughs* You know, I find that the guys who have been taught all about a woman's menstrual cycle as well as the products needed for it are a lot more comfortable with the whole affair. Not only that, but they're typically more understanding, sympathetic and considerate toward a woman during her period. More willing to get her pads/tampons, pills, etc. too.
And yeah ... the hospital thing has happened a couple of times now. If I don't take my pill at the right moment, that's it. I'm laid up for three days after that. It sucks, especially the draining part, but I've gotten pretty used to the 'Oh lord, just kill me now' pain and the pill popping that follows.
