Lindsey's quilt

Jun 30, 2011 03:27

A quilt made for Lindsey, our housemate currently in hospital for anorexia-related treatment.

She's been having a rough time, but she's doing better and we wanted to make something to celebrate that. This was designed by other-housemate storm_seller based on elements of traditional Welsh patchwork (in that she pointed at what she wanted and I drew a pattern based on that), using fabrics chosen by her from my stash, was machine-pieced by me and machine-quilted using traditional Welsh elements again chosen by storm_seller on the above principle.

I always enjoy collaborating with her, as we end up with things quite unlike my solo projects; this is far brighter and more lively than I would've done alone but it's definitely very Lindsey.

Top all quilting cotton from my stash, veriegated purple quilting thread, with Green Dream wadding, which is made of recycled plastic bottles. I haven't used it before but it was quite nice to work with. All sewn on my Brother QC1000.
