Sakura-con

I just got back from Sakura-con and my trip to Seattle and Victoria. It was loads fo fun, although the weather was cold and my trip home kinda sucked.

Tree and I got to Seattle last Monday and spent the day with Melody, wandering around Pike's Place and such. We had tasty fish.

Tuesday we went to Victoria and crashed at Amaya's house where we frantically sewed, but also wandered the town and visited gardens and such. Photos will come later. It was not only cold there, but it hailed during our Tea at Buchart Gardens, and then snowed when we visited the temperate rain forests at Goldstream.

Thursday we went back to Seattle, got badges, etc. Friday we raided the dealer's room at the con, which was fun, and dressed as assorted shinigami and such.

Saturday we went as D Gray-man characters with me as Miranda, Tree as Lenali, and Melody as Lavi while Vaidah and Amaya cosplayed spoilers from Bleach. The Ali Project concert was definitely my highlight and it wasn't just because there were dancing drag-queen geishas. There was also an awesome Menos Grande that a group used in their skit and which rolled around the lobby later and was probably 20 feet tall.

Sunday we kinda lamed out on con, but I finally got to see the Seattle Underground tour after all of these years, which made me very happy.

The only thing that really sucked was the trip home. Amaya had to get up at 6 am to catch her ferry. Vaidah got a call around the same time that her flight had been canceled and rebooked for the next day, so she had to frantically call her aunt and rebook on a different flight.

Tree and I did the first leg with Melody and it was delayed enough to stop us from going anywhere nice ot eat for our layover. The next flight wasn't too bad except for some snow and rain and lightning just before we arrived. Then we went to find out luggage only to learn that Southwestern only cas one baggage carousel, and 4 flights that arrived at the same time. Instead of putting our bags on one of the 5 unused carousels at the airport, they made us wait an ENTIRE HOUR while they did all 3 other flights first.

Then we finally got to the car and while trying to find the exit to the lot Tree hit the bottom metal piece that was left where someone else had knocked off a stop sign. Instant flat tire, in the rain no less. We finally got the donut put on and started driving the normal hour drive home, only we couldn't go more than 55 which made it longer, and then we almost immediately got stuck in stand still traffic that was apparently all caused by some construction, and that had us parking on the interstate for 30 minutes. Later on we had to come to a dead stop AGAIN because some moron had a car accident on the slick rainy roads. Finally made it home at 1:30 instead of 11:30 .... >.< Suckage. But at least we made it home. And now I'm going to finally sleep.
