I found a place to maybe get my dresser and nightstands refinished. I just sent off some pictures and a request for an estimate.

Well, if it turns out the estimate is too high, I have some tips for refinishing furniture. My day job involves editing articles for all sorts of of home how-tos (just let me know if you ever need to reshingle your roof, LOL).

Refinishing furniture takes more elbow grease than anything else. Actually, there are lots of products out there nowadays that can lift old paint without a lot of effort on your part. It's mostly a lot of sanding, actually.
