Hey, E, you know how every time you go to the bookstore and spot the Melanie Rawn books, you sulk because Captal's Tower isn't out yet? (I confess, I do too. If only so she can go 'surprise, Collen's not dead!' *weeps about Collen some more*)

Eh, I would tend to think that one might have a little more awareness of the desires of a fanbase that has made them hugely successful. I'm not saying that it's right to demand works from authors, since I know that creativity can't be demanded. I'm just saying that I would think that an author ought to be cognizant enough of what their fans have done for them to be willing to be communicative about progress on a work, or be honest if they've lost the drive to complete a story. The GRRM fans (of which I am not one) would probably be satisfied with either of those ( ... )

Seems to me this should at least apply to authors who like to end books on a cliffhanger. 'Cause that's just mean.
