While they'd make a cute and sweet couple, I must admit I can't really picture this pair in a romantical aspect. ^^; To me, Anzu acts like a sort-of sister to Yuugi. If she were to be with him, and despite his recent maturity, she would have to take the lead in the relationship because of Yuugi's submissive behavior toward her. This is not to say that this would displease Anzu, but I've got like the impression that she is someone who needs challenges, who wants somebody arguing with her. As time goes on, I feel that she would grow a bit frustrated by her partner's lack of fire.
This is not to say this situation is unremediable though. I can perfectly imagine Yuugi noticing this, and trying (with some discomfort) to provocate her in the hopes this will please his lady. Hilarity ensues. xD
I must say this couple always intrigued me. How could these two be together, given their opposite personalities? The only thing I can think of is arranged mariage, for the Clan continuation's sake.
As for their meeting circumstances, there go two interesting hypothesis:
- From Scribber's The Nomads, dad Ishtar was from the Clan but fell in love with an outsider and married her, before becoming afterward the happy-knife jerk we all know and love. :P
- However, according to this story, Dad Ishtar wouldn't be originally from the Clan, he comes from the outside world, and is a muslim who studied for long the Ishtar's duties before entering it and meeting his wife-to-be
( ... )
Thank you for your lovely headcanons! I had these characters in mind because Tapho is the next pairing in the contest.
I like the idea of either parent coming from the outside world. I just can't see one singular family existing this way (for obvious reasons) and we are given so little in the canon that it's easy to want to fill in the blanks. I read on tumblr once that Father Ishtar's "insanity" could have been the result of drug-use. Very interesting, I think. And it makes sense since their existence is so darn depressing.
The one qualm I have about anyone wanting to leave the outside world for this is their motivation. Why would /anyone/ choose to live down there for the rest of their lives, especially if the pharaoh's memories are in sole possession of native Tombkeepers? I don't think anyone in the outside world would value that knowledge as much as those who've grown up with it.
Anyways, I've posted a Tapho fic. Feel free to check if out if you'd like :3
They'd make quite a sophisticated and lovely pair, both sharing some things in common like attraction to fame and prestige. I see interest first in their association's motive: Vivian might see in Otogi a reason to become more popular but especially richer (why would she refuse it? she could do whatever pleases her this way) while Otogi might take solace from his loneliness in a girlfriend, all while benefiting from her actual fame.
and of course, while times goes on, they might find in each other further reason to stay together. ;)
So, here we go for JouMai. Surprisingly, I had to ponder for a long time over it. This may be due to its obviousness and the fact it was one of the most preconceived couples of the series.
It didn't seem so, during their first encounter, though.
Though their first interaction on the boat was tons of fun, I'd never thought this would have evolved in some romance. I was under the impression Jou would keep on drolling over her, while Mai remains throughout the shows like the antagonist she was in the beginnings, a sort of rival to Yuugi or something. This is not to say, however, I didn't find their growing relationship touching and very cute. My favourite moment when it comes to this pairing, is the scene when Mai holds Jou in her arms, after he willingly lose his duel in Doma season. (Stating there were no romance in such moment would be a guileless lie)
In a post-canon AU, I can perfectly imagine Jou doing everything to find Mai -even if this means traveling to China ;P
I think if anything, the first encounter was more of obvious attraction, haha, which then grew into (if only the creators allowed) something more. There was probably an issue with age differences--I only learned of it when I first got onto FFN. To say there wasn't any romance during Mai's duel with Marik--I think--would be just as oblivious as the Orichalcos duel. Of course, Joey had a protective streak in him always; his sister, Yugi(post bullying) and pretty much any of his other friends one could argue. Or partly out of guilt for not admitting the truth to Mai. When I was younger and during its heyday, I actually thought that Jou/Mai was more canon than any other couple, probably because Jou acts more like the typical 'hero' archetype than Yugi in some aspects. Atem I think, also fulfills the hero archetype, but in a different manner than Jou. And yeah for Au's! :D Yeah for analyzing, haha! Good to hear from you in any case!
