Writer's Block: A literary masterpiece

The Gruffalo, definitely. I saw the animated version at Christmas and it has to be the cutest story I've seen in YEARS.

I'd like to say that eventually I'd be reading them Harry Potter or The Hobbit, but I was by that point devouring several books a week entirely unaided, so if they inherit my love of books I likely won't need to read to them by ( Read more... )

I love how The Very Hungry Caterpillar is still in print - my local bookshop had a small display of them earlier in the year together with soft toy versions of the caterpillar!

Yes! The school I did work experience at had a whole host of finger puppets to go with various books, including the Very Hungry Caterpillar and the Rainbow Fish. Actually, there's another one I'd read to kids/nieces/nephews/etc. The illustrations are gorgeous.

I'm really a fan of any book that makes good use of illustration, (children's book or otherwise), but I think it's doubly important for a children's book.
