Glad to hear everything is going mostly well so far! Starting from scratch in a totally new place is always a bit much...I did it when I moved here before med school, so I understand. I know the roommate thing can be tough after living on your own, but hopefully it'll help you get settled faster. When I moved here I had my own place for the first time, and I think it insulated me for a long time. I still went out, mind you, but it probably took me longer to find my place. Staying home was just too tempting a lot of times, and it was certainly easier!
Anyway, I hope things continue to go well. It definitely sounds like you're happier than in most previous posts, which is always good. And good luck finding a way around the nastiness that is a bike ride to work. I did it last year for a couple weeks when I rotated off site and never managed to find a solution. Luckily I didn't have to look nice in the OR :)
