Ok, I get it. Childhood is a magical adventure for children that should be cherished and remembered, but does everything really need to have an poster, music montage, with 25 photos displaying how you are such an awesome mom to make *fill in holiday* soooo super duper special for your kids? If only all the drive and energy could be funneled into something actually useful! Some people are trying to "win" at being a parent and think doing things worth being put in a book or on TV make them better parents

I'm not the 3 x 16 foot banner mom either. I fact, I feel sorry for that mom, because I wonder what's going to happen to her once her kids grow up. Will she lose all sense of self, or will she be able to successfully reinvent herself as not-Mom? And her kids? What is going to happen to them when they realize that the world isn't sitting around just waiting to shower them with confetti for the most mundane of (non)achievements?

The whole "not mom" thing I don't get. I'm lucky I don't have to deal with the kids, because they scream entitlement. Sigh...
