Going day after day through mostly the same routine, it's eay to let time slip by and forget to post.

We're in the thick of spring here, with temps swinging from the high 60's through the low 80's, mostly in the 70's. We've been getting a decent amount of rain which has thankfully been easing the drought, but unfortunately it appears to be timed to

Just a philosophical note.. 40 is just another day.It really isn't a milestone anymore. Thinking of Mom and Dad, just starting out at 40; and Mom and Bob, just starting out at 81 and 88, makes me think that life can start at *any* time :-).As far as gardening in hard clay goes, you may remember mom "watering" an area for a vegetable garden, before Dad roto-tilled it. Dad was up to his knees in mud... Fortunately for the world, you aren't a typical soccer mom.

Hey, happy 40 kiddo. As for the gardening and mulching ... all in moderation. And if you don't mind mud, working in the rain is do-able.

Gardening is great! I can watch people do it for hours!

That being said, we have a bunch of yard tasks that need to get done, including ripping down some old raised beds that are showing their age (and they are under 40!!)
