I started studying the violin in third grade (about age 9). I stopped the same year.
My miscellaneous rhythm instrument was the triangle. In college I got drafted into playing in the Academic Festival Overture because a friend of mine was a drummer and they just didn't have enough percussionists to handle all the required instruments. To this day, when I hear that piece, I listen only for the triangle. It's distracting.
I sing in my church choir. Whether that really classifies as a "proper choir" is open to discussion. But I have sung in proper choirs.
The tense of the singing question is ambiguous, because I didn't get uk_sef to proofread it for me, but I certainly meant "I have sung in proper choirs" to count.
And I'm sure a triangle player will come in handy :-)
For singing you left out: 'I can't sing in tune and yet I sing loudly and often to share my important mental background noise with the world' which describes me pretty well *g*
I learnt violin and recorder at school, and taught myself to play one-handed piano since I could read treble clef. I never had the patience to get particularly good but I do find the recorder relaxing still.
Snow! Yes, we had snow. Brrr. I am currently wearing a pair of attractive thick nipple-high tights under my jeans and sports socks, plus a t-shirt and jumper and student hoodie, and I'm still cold. I think I need to purchase a hot water bottle...
Are you watching 'Being Human'? It combines slashiness, vampires and flat-sharing in a manner I find most delightful and relevant to my interests *g*
For singing you left out... why, yes, I did - and it's not as if DR doesn't sing like that to her MP3 player or internal soundtrack while doing her homework - Merlin help anyone taking an exam in the same room as her!
I don't think I sing like that much when other people can here me - at the very least I keep the volume high enough that I can't hear their complaints ;-)
