Tonight I went to see the Tintin movie (The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn) and enjoyed it more than I expected to :-) I try to have no real spoilers in this post, but I can't guarantee the comments ( Read more... )

'Archibald' as a name always sounds Scottish to me. But I never read Tintin, so I don't know about that particular Archibald.

The only Archie I've ever known was Scottish, and Wikipedia tends to agree with us. Tintin is presumably Belgian, and Thomson and Thompson are stereotypically English - and so it goes on.

Haddock seems to me to belong in the same tradition as Para Handy and Scotty, with a bit of McAuslan and Rab C Nesbitt thrown in for good measure - it's not a bad heritage to have ;-)

If you don't make it to the cinema, we can always manage a private viewing on the MIB's telly later - you need a big screen for the pretty, I think?
