*ahem*

Anyone know what Indigo Children are? Because I'm here to tell you that we appear to have a lot of them on Elfwood these days.

Don't mind me, I'm just going to go assume a fetal position in the corner over there.

I read the article and it seems like if the Indigos have some special (magic??) powers or what? Quite scary really...
Thankgod that they won't be able to do anything to change the ticketqueue-system..

The only thing that is scary is that there are some parents who are deluded enough to attribute "my kid acts like a spoiled brat" to "he must have magical powers" instead of "wow I suck as a parent."

I'm a cynic, can you tell? beccastareyes August 23 2005, 20:50:51 UTC
Hm... seems like "child that's a quick learner in a certain area (looks like mostly interpersonal skills) + high ego that comes from knowing you're gifted + new age stuff about energy = Indigo Child"

Looks like another way for people to make themselves/their children special. If they wanted to use it as a poetic way to tell people they are emotionally intelligent, fine (but, really, it's silly to brag about intelligence of any sorts -- better to just let it show through your interactions with others) but I've seen lots of other things that have legitamate value (Asperger's Sundrome, various New Age/Pagan/Wiccan/etc. beliefs, subcultures such as the goth or punks) becoem merely a way of saying "Look at me! I'm not like all of you mundanes!"

Traits of Indigo Children visionari August 23 2005, 19:19:36 UTC
The relevant traits are listed below:

* They come into the world with a feeling of royalty.

* They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.

* They have difficulty with absolute authority.

* They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.

* They often see "better" ways of doing things, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).

Personally, I like the term "Indigo Children"; "whiny, obnoxious, entitlement brat" seems to put people on the defensive for some reason.

Essentially "Indigo Child" means "Child who is too stupid to adapt to reality"

If you're joking, then LOL.

If you're not joking, then thank you for proving my point, and... LOL.

...uh-huh. I read the article Shinaraz posted, and it seems like the kid may have been gifted in that he was unusually intelligent, but all of this other 'Indigo Child' stuff Im reading around here is bull. Who comes up with this stuff?

Come to think of it, I know someone kind of like that. Gads, I hate her.

And you're right, there do seem to be a lot of self-appointed princes/princesses in the 'Woods. I'd bet you anything most of them are thirteen and their excuse for posting their art and expecting something to come of it is "my mommy says I'm the best artist in the world, so it must be true; now worship me". XP

Mind if I join you in the corner? *assumes fetal position*

By the way, awesome avatar.

What IS this precious, child-worshipping bullshit? Way to utterly destroy the little darlings before they have a chance to grow up and neglect us in our old age the way the American tradition says they should. This is a lot like how all the kids nowadays are suddenly on the Autistic spectrum because Mommy and Daddy think discipline is how serial killers get started ( ... )
