"those which teens must be well-informed about in order to become responsible adults" and "those they are forbidden by law to participate in." have a pretty big overlap

They're not forbidden by law to participate in any of those (well, except for rape...)--they're forbidden to participate in some of them with adults.

And I find it hilarious that teen posts on those subjects might wind up locked away from the view of other teens, but adults will still be able to read them (and comment on them, offer advice, suggest meetings, and so on.)

I was more commenting on the first list - teens ought to learn some things about voting, contracts, banking, and insurance before they're old enough to legally do those things.

Adult concepts--could be blocked from the under-14 crowd. They only become *explicit* adult content when there's complicated details involved--which, generally, minors don't need to see, and would only get in the way of the discussion thereof.

Of course, there's a few exceptions here & there. But it's up to individual parents to teach their kids to lie circumvent security on those topics they feel are appropriate for their children.

This is Elf's understanding of the term "adult concepts," which is what I'll be using if I flag any posts, unless LJ comes out with a coherent definition that says otherwise.

Well, umm... yeah.
I know what's too mature, complex and inappropriate for my kids to be exposed to.

They have some understanding of biology, human and otherwise. They're more than a bit lost when dealing with corporate law. Which is, IMO, about how it should be.
