Hi, new frendzez!

Dec 07, 2007 21:13

So. I made this post about search terms blocked at LJ. (Found out they've been blocked since just after Strikethrough 1.0)

It's a popular post. Much-linked. Plus, I have a whole swarm of new friends at LiveJournal. *blink*

Then... TheLJStaff posted updates. Two of them. One in LJ_2008; one in LJ_policy.
Updates on the LJ Advisory Board.

This practice has been in place for some time, since some mishaps during Strikethrough.

I can't help but LULZ at that. Mishaps during Strikethrough. Well that's one way of putting it! XD

Someone proved that as of late October the term 'spicy food' hadn't been blocked. I am sure if these changes had been in place since the summer someone would have noticed it before now.

It's also amusing the see that 'faggots' is a banned term as this is a popular British food. Not that I can imagine wanting to find other users who enjoy eating them but it's the principle of the thing.

Faggots ftw! When I was four years old, our next door neighbour used to look after me a lot, and she fed me Brain's faggots every Friday :-)

A search on "spicy food" currently produces an error report.

Hello, I'm the person who posted your link in the lj_2008 community!

Looking around at how split up everything is, I started to think how it might be more constructive to bring everything together in a community OUTSIDE of LJ's direct control.

I have set up a community for this: ljspeaks. I would greatly appreciate it if you were to join and post your information there. For those users who have been unhappy with the changes we've been seeing, putting all the information in one place might be helpful. And since you've already got people watching, you'd be well-suited to helping bring everyone together.

Thank you for any help you can lend!

Have joined. When I've caught up on comments (OMG I am popular today), I'll post an updated list, sorted into sections, and indicate which words are "root words". (I caught spic; I didn't catch that "coon" was a root word, and so you can't search for tycoon, raccoon, or cocoons.)

I friended you because your post (maybe in the comments) said you would be talking about this stuff a lot and you seem to not fly off the handle about it and try to keep things as factual as possible. I do not expect you to friend me back. I can only imagine how many people have done the same as I did and that would be an awful lot of journals to keep up with. But, I thought I'd say that because I know some people are weird about being friended back.

I'd be one of those 'new friends'. *grins* I'll pass along those links to my readership.
