Moving away from LJ

New Year's Resolution time, and all that. I want to make some changes.

I'm planning on crossposting less. (Among other reasons, I've found that custom locks flat-out don't work when crossposting with Semagic. So if I make a custom-locked post--like, to the slash readers only--I have to go to the entry and edit it manually, which kinda kills the

I'm at Insanejournal, mostly. I'm also going to be doing stuff at Scribblit, but that's not open yet; it's still very much in beta.

If you set up an account there, I can add you to my filters, and you should be able to set up (or grab someone's else's) RSS feed.

I have my f'list here as a feed there, so I still see everything. And I comment in communities here. I'm just really nervous about all the LJ changes... I don't know when the next banhammer smackdown will hit, and while I don't think I'm in line for it, I'm not willing to censor myself to be safe.

Also, while I don't need 300 icons, six is starting to feel pretty constrictive.

Do you see only public posts on the feed or friend's posts. I can't figure the feed business out. I never wanted one before this and I don't really grok them.

And I'm with you. I really want to move away from LJ in the New Year, and not lose contact with people, either.

I'm not all that happy with it either. I just upgraded to the next level of free, and it came with 15 icons, and ADS, oh joy!! Problem for me is I'm not real tech-savvy, and Brie, my techgoddess, doesn't blog at ALL so doesn't want to meddle with code, etc. So...I will hope to keep looking around for somewhere else to be where I understand the interface. And if you are going to be checking in here, I will at least not lose touch while I'm switching or expanding. Need to ask everyone else on my f'list if they are somewhere else, too...and learn how to DO a "feed", since I have no fricken idea....

drifting from LJ. thats my plan too. i know you don't know me. i saw some of your comments in that LJ Policy forum and i just thought that you sounded cool and so i came here. lol
