About that new Explore feature

EXPLORE LJ! Six new realms of posts aggregated by keyword-grabbing software!

I kind of want to write Bush family incestfic and re-enable Explore LJ just so see where it would go and how fast I'll get banhammered.

Someone should do a study -- if fic/art is banned quicker if featured on Explore LJ and flagged there, compared to if it's just flagged on its own merit. Because you know this was created just to make it easier for random people to flag journals.

Aaaaah, but how will we know if it's been flagged or when or how or why 'cause LJ doesn't tell anyone when they've gone in a changed a journal.

Or something like that.

I've been amused on my little trips over to Explore LJ as to the random off-topic posts under the headings. Reading this I had to giggle at your speculation as to what will go where.

Now if they were really clever and did an 'opt-in' function where those who wished their posts to be displayed could ticky-box the category too, it would be a much more attractive feature and they'd might get some very interesting content willingly displayed.

I gather you don't like anorexics very much.

My take on this whole Explore crap: Useless. But then again, instead of addressing the problems at hand, let's just make something new and shiny and completely pointless.

I wonder where they would categorize your post?

I don't like anorexia being treated like a hobby or fashion statement, rather than a serious illness that needs treatment, not promos. I don't like the idea that nursing babies and teen sexuality are "inappropriate," but encouraging teen starvation is a "lifestyle choice." (Paraphrase, not quote.)

My post (were I not opted out) would wind up in any or potentially all of them--because it contains all of them as keywords, and they're being sorted by a program, not a person.
