Discordian Magic presentation @ PantheaCon

Feb 14, 2008 20:06

I'm giving a talk (or, umm, something like that) on Discordian Magic (or, umm, something like that) at PantheaCon tomorrow at 3:30 pm.

P'con's at the Hilton Doubletree in San Jose. Odds are, if you didn't already know this, you weren't going to be there.

I will have handouts. And eight different discordian magic spells for people to take home.

I wish I could be there to see it. You'll be receiving greetings from me in absentia through my friend Lanier. And make sure you update us on what happens with Phoenix. We care.

...you're going to offer those handouts to your readers who are not so lucky as to get them in person? [blinks, bats eyelashes, looks cute]

After the con, I'll figure out how to distribute everything I printed for the con. (Except for my half-page description of ColbertGASM, 'cos that basically boils down to "go read this web site.")

The nifty widgets for the con:
  1. 8 magic spells on a card
  2. Discordian "cootie catcher" spell selector
  3. Fifth Trinity Church trifold pamphlet, including Pope card & Portable Temple cutouts
  4. Outline for Discordian Magic talk (not distributed, and taken almost entirely from previous entries here on LJ)
  5. Ritual and Magical Works Permit Card for the Sorcerers, Clergy, Alchemists, & Magicians Union (S.C.A.M.U. card)

What's the difference between Discordian magic and regular magic?

Not different from "regular magic;" a subset thereof. Feri magic, kabbalistic magic, ceremonial magic, hoodoo magic... Discordian magic: that which uses Discordian methods, Discordian ethics, and seeks Discordian goals.

Generally means "involves the number five, and people who think about it too much are likely to need sedatives or therapy or both."
