A Linguistic Consideration

Mar 05, 2008 14:37

Driving to the store yesterday, I saw a billboard advertising1260 AM Catholic Radio
Share the ♥ of the Christian faith.

And I wondered...
should I read that as "Share the love of the Christian faith" or
"share the heart of the Christian faith?"

The meaning changes. Interesting.

"share the heart of the Christian faith?"

Hmm.. There is no place good I can take that....

I wonder if they meant via the "Aztec" method...

I'm sorry that this will come across definitely snarky, but if someone told me in a Catholic context about "sharing the love of the Xtian faith" my mind would immediately leap to thoughts of priests and little boys. Where's an advertising quality control rep when you need one?

I saw this a few times while I was in the Bay. Didn't know what to think.

The human organ that is most shaped like a valentine heart is in fact the prostate.
This colored my view of "i ♥ anything" messages forever after.
