At the urging of Mr. Derek who was worried that people might wonder if I'm still out on the trail freezing somewhere:

Yes, I have successfully completed my Appalachian Trail thru-hike. I laughed, I cried, I fell down, and it was the best time of my life. What else is there to say really? Do it if you can!

I bet you'd do it all over again, right? :p

If I had the time, and Lady K didn't mind, and I thought my knees and luck would hold out for a second 2175 miles, then yes. In a heartbeat.

I thought your immediate reaction was negative. Well, then, since it isn't, let's hike it together sometime. You know I've always wanted to.

You are correct, my reaction on finishing was "Thank god". I was pretty miserable a lot of the time. HOWEVER, the second time around I wouldn't feel compelled to do every single step of the trail. I'd still hike 95% of it, but I'd skip the parts that didn't have a high enough reward/effort ratio, and I'd use the extra time mello'ing out on the best parts of the trail and enjoying trail life.
