halifax update: shaping up!

Jul 18, 2009 18:57

a distinctly halifax-shaped object is on proud display on my tv at this point

for various reasons I did not assemble the wings in the usual order (upper half + lower half together and then attaching them as a whole unit to the fuselage); instead, I glued the upper halves to the fuselage first.

the wings (as well as the tail unit) were held in place with masking tape until the glue had dried thoroughly.

the lower halves of the wings were assembled. the nacelles were attached, and the wing bomb bays were glued in place.

and this afternoon, the lower wing halves were glued onto the upper halves and the fuselage

the next step is the main bomb bay, which will seal up the fuselage.
