Okay, I stayed up waaaay too late trying to finish reading this last night...best WaT story I've read, hands down! You nailed every character.
I loved the team's banter - Martin, Sam, & Danny in Part 2 had me laughing so hard I was glad I wasn't reading at work. I also enjoyed the description of Martin's ties as "a particularly drab acid trip."
The action was great - everything flowed quite nicely, the clues doled out at just the right time to increase the tension. I think my favorite scene, though, was Jack's p.o.v. as he's listening to Martin head back to the cabin - his perspective matches the reader's, helpless to do anything but yell, don't go in there!
And then I figured out you had also written the awesome Chris/Vin story I just read over at Blackraptor...color me impressed! I may just have to adopt some new fandoms and read the rest of your stuff!

(I found Martin the hardest to write, despite him being the main object of my interest, because his character is on such a steep learning curve from the pilot and goes through so many things in the show.)

Well, I wouldn't do it for the sake of my fic. *g* But the shows themselves are all great and I do really envy people who haven't seen SG-1, Buffy, Angel, The West Wing etc yet because although they stand up to being rewatched a zillion times, there is something really amazing about seeing them for the first time too. I think if you like Chris and Vin, you will also like Jack and Daniel from SG-1 and their relationship in particular. (Daniel doesn't have Jack *quite* as well trained as Vin has Chris, but close!)
This story was fantastic. I don't read a lot of Without a Trace fic, and when I do read it, it's usually Martin/Danny, not gen, but this. First off, the plot was amazing, and there was great tension when the guys were missing. And the descriptions of living with abuse, especially the thing about keeping secrets and making alliances, were uncomfortably accurate - which is a compliment! Anyway, great job.
I realise this was posted quite a while ago now, but I just found it and wanted to say how much I enjoyed it! I've only seen a few episodes of Without a Trace, but I managed to follow it just fine, and it really kept me going at work today. (Not that I was reading fic at work. That would be wrong.)
I'm delighted to see you're writing M7 fic now as well, and I remember your stories from SG1 very fondly - though I don't think I ever wrote you feedback then. Sorry! I was so happy to find your LJ the other day and all this new fic to read! Really looking forward to catching up on the rest.

Hey, just found this, and wow! Definitely the best WaT fic I've come across - great plot, fantastic characterization, and one of my favorite versions of Martin (oblivious!Martin, hurrah!). Oh, and Jack was just spot-on, and the Danny/Martin dynamic seemed exactly like the very best bits of the show. Lovely!
