That tornado outbreak yesterday ripped through part of Jacksonville, NC (Camp LeJuene)...Grandma lives in the next town over, as does a bunch of the cousins on her side. Gram's okay, and doesn't know any of the poor people who died, but she probably knows someone who does. We got the tornado air raid siren that warns of nasty storms here on ( Read more... )

I'm glad your gram is okay. When it rains blue whales, you really should take cover, and not just a bus or bus shelter. A fall out shelter MIGHT be enough. (just how many tons DOES a blue whale weight anyways...)

Actually, I didn't recognize the air raid for that for the first several months. Generally, they're kind of ignored. Probably not a good thing. The town does test it one Saturday every month. The first one, I think. Nobody seemed to be scrambling for cover. I'm not sure we had NOAA warnings for tornados, either.

...I was a bit nervous about that bus...
