The Pantacle

I've got a disk of beeswax at home hardening in a 7-inch cake mold. Since yesterday I've been contemplating what to carve on it. I'm a bit irritated because I started out with all these grand design ideas and after the realization of artistic skill set in, I find myself scrapping most of those ideas ( Read more... )

If nothing comes to mind of its own accord, you could try applying some methods used by earlier practitioners, at least as a stating point. You could take a magical motto of yours, or a word or phrase which sums up an important goal or aspiration and then use the technique which involves the rose of the Golden Dawn lamen and the Hebrew characters. You might also consider applying some variation on Spare's technique for creating sigils to your word or phrase.

P.S. I hope things go well as you prepare for the upcoming performance. It sounds great.

I was checking out different lamens and pantacles and the most impressive was Frater Achad's (pantacle, that is). I kind of feel like I'm onto something after discussing with dyta93 what the GD Pentagram ritual would look like as a seal. I got a little more wax and a psuedo-design. I'll post the finished design and later the disk.

Lately, I've been operating without a motto and was tempted to have a single point in the center. The other idea was just to make a Sigillum Dei Aemeth and call it a day. While it would be useful to have, I think that's a whole other project.

PS - Thanks. The rest of the cast are veterans to the public performance of these Ceremonies, I feel like I'm in good hands.
