[ The video flickers. It comes on to show the face of a man. Then off. Then on again. Then, there's no video, but you can here indistinct mumbling in the background.
Finally, on, again. There's a man wearing
some sort of uniform. The floor behind him is strewn with stuff; obviously, he's dug through all the supplies that came in his little

[...Hmm. Envy wonders if Hughes knows anything about him at all this time around. There's an idea stirring, and it's one that's worked before, even if only temporarily.]
[When he responds, there's no indication that Envy is anything but friendly and sympathetic.] Sorry, but there's no way back to Amestris from this place. Not a voluntary one anyway.

Ah! So you're from Amestris as well?
[ Rubbing his chin thoughtfully. ]
No voluntary way back? I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I understand.

[Except not really. You good guys, always complicating things. He grins though; this seems off to a good start. And then sighs at the question.]
Well, sometimes people will disappear from this place completely, and that means they've been sent home. We think. There's not really a pattern to it either. I've seen people vanish in under a month, but I've been here more than a year.

[ taunts taunts taunty mctaunt taunts. ]
That animal you have just received is a pokemon. It can most likely kill the average man. You won't be able to see your child here; you're in another world entirely.

I take it you're an Amestrian, yourself?

That assumption would be correct, Lieutenant Colonel. It's great to have you back. [ she'll now just implicate he was here already to blow his mind. ]

"Back"?
[ He's very much unsettled by the fact that you know who he is, but he has no idea who you are. ]

[To be fair, Archer doesn't actually hate Hughes; working under the man was just a never-ending cycle of frustration. Archer takes several minutes before responding to the video. He's well aware that the majority of the Amestrians here don't know who he is and have come from some sort of alternate world where he apparently doesn't exist or something.]
It's good to see you again, Brigadier General.
[Archer certainly doesn't sound sincere, but when has he ever? Besides, there's no reason to attempt to antagonize Hughes... yet.]

He's about to open his mouth to ask how he's so popular, when the title "Brigadier General" gets thrown out there.
He laughs. Roy would kill him if he were promoted past his station. Plus, Maes never actually did enough work for it to be proper to promote him. (Archer would know, considering how Maes liked occasionally to shirk responsibility onto his subordinates...) ]
I'm sorry, I think you have the wrong person.

[But that's hardly the point now.]
No, I'm quite certain I don't. [The easiest way to prove that? Well, it's not one he's exactly eager to engage in...] How is Elicia doing?
Reply
She's... doing quite well. She's just turned three years old.
[ For once, Maes is not bursting with enthusiasm at the topic of his daughter. Mostly because, he's busy trying to figure out who you are. And why you think he's a Brigadier General. Because, "see you again" implies that you two have met. ]
I'm sorry, but... do I know you?
[ Elicia will just have to wait for a moment. But oh, don't you think you're getting away from that. It's just getting put off for the time being. ]

What's that brown fox?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.
[ He's really tempted to shoot back with a comment about how he thinks you're pretty ugly, but... he doesn't actually, and that'd be mean. And kind of childish. ]
