Well, a good portion of the Rose community has decided to make complete asses of themselves by throwing a "Hit the road! I'm going to have to disagree with you. Most of the students who went to the rally were there purely for information (and agreed that the thing was misnamed). The reason for this is that most professors were being very close lipped about the whole thing. Personally I talked privately with a proffessor who i respect as being well informed, tolerant of any transgressions, and always willing to give both sides of an argument. I wont go into them here but he brought up some very troubling trends about the actions of Midgely.

To sum up what I was trying to say above, yes the thing had a bad name, but the problem was that people weren't informed as to the concerns of the staff and faculty. The 'rally' fixed that somewhat.

My argument, mainly, was that they need to get together and inform the rose community elsewhere than out on our front lawn. It was obviously set up to create a scene and sure enough, there were tons of bystanders (like the janitorial staff) watching, wondering why people were standing in the rain like that. We should had a more organized meeting inside, without giving the media or general public a chance to get involved would have been much more professional and respectful of everyone involved in this uproar, as well as the campus family.
