MY #1, my favorite of all, the Seymour Duncan SH-5 "Custom" (not SH-11 "Custom-Custom"). They also have a new SH-14 "Custom 5", but it has less output (higher output=heavier distortion). Check the description for the "Custom Custom". I've tried it before. Sounds great and I may get one soon.
My #2 Is the JB. It is a great sounding pickup, but I feel it mushes-up the low-end (bass) a little for less clarity than my "Custom". Clarity is important for note and tone distinction.

ps. i got your message but the deleted yout number, but i hope you have talked to adam about try outs he seems a little like he can not do it, but i think with your skills he will learn and over come.
