and I forgot how I did it..I'm trying to take an icon but I keep getting an error message, anyhow I will credit.. could someone explain to me how do you post userpics and how do you take icons..I've been away from LJ for awhile and I just am a little rusty. thanks

it can be confusing when you haven't been here for a while. i don't know why you're getting an error message, but try this and see what happens.
to take pics:
if you're on a PC, move your cursor over the one(s) you want and *right click-save as* to where you want to keep them on your computer. if you're on a mac, just click, hold, drag and drop them to your desktop or where ever you want to save them.
to post pics:
you have to load them to an image server like photobucket or imageshack.
to show the image in a post, you choose the URL that starts with <*a href= ..... to post a link to the pic, choose the one that begins with http*://....
you can also use your LJ scrapbook. that's a little more involved, but it still works. you just have to read through that to get them to post.
