Hey, thanks for leaving me a comment on my livejournal. I just wanted to let you know that I really don't have a lot of political ambition (especially on the american stage). I kind of can't stand American politics, in fact, and I never want to have to run for any kind of office where my face is plastered on posters. I want to be more of an academic... try to gain a lot of expertise in the right ways to deal with the international community so that I can tell the politicians that they're doing things all wrong. I don't know if it's because my parents are both immigrants, but I've been overcome with this feeling that I need to be an ambassador, not necessarily in the literal sense, but in a figurative way. Especially as a military officer, I think I can do more good by fostering my leadership, people, and diplomatic skills than I could ever do as the person doing the engineering. But that's just me. I know plenty of my classmates that are going to make really worthwhile scientists, engineers, and doctors.
If you have a goal that you're consciously working toward, even if you're not sure exactly what that goal is yet, that's ambitious. By the way, it is not because you're meeting Steve's Definition of Ambitious that I like that you're doing what you're doing, it's that you're doing what you want to do for reasons that you care about
