Myojo 2013.12

Taiga x Hagiya x Shintaro x Juri

The ”thank you” that isn’t said
They’re sending thank-you letters to their dear families

To mom
The volume of your voice is loud but...
Thank you for always asking ”what do you want to eat?”
As expected, your cooking is the best.
From Kyomoto Taiga

My mom, her cooking is super good. Without relying on eating out, she always cooks herself, so I’m grateful of that. However, there’s one thing I’m concerned about: her loud voice. A while ago, when I was waiting for a train at a platform, she asked with a loud voice over the phone ”what do want for dinner tonight?” and it was so embarrassing. When I warned that “people around can hear!”, she answered with a small voice “A is tonkatsu, B is steak. Which one?” (laughs). It seems that it was conveyed that it’d be embarrassing for me to say “tonkatsu” at a station, so she made me answer A or B. But after all, answering “well, A then” was embarrassing too… Well, I’m thankful that she considered that but if she could drop her volume on a routine basis.

For dad
When thinking back from this point,
I once again realized the greatness of dad.
It’s thanks to my dad that the me now is here.
From Hagiya Keigo

Dad has always been cooperative towards the things I want to do. I adored SMAP and aimed at being an idol, so he took me to dance classes. He said “it would give an impact if you could do a back flip”, so he searched me a dance class that was not gymnastics for children but one that real dancers go, one that would teach acrobatics professionally. One top of that, he went there with me and practiced too!! For me who was in elementary school back then, it was really reassuring. He also taught me how to write a resume. I think there aren’t that many parents who would do that much for their child’s dreams. I’m truly grateful for my dad’s energy. I think that it’s because of my dad that I’m able to do junior activities like this now. Thank you.

For mom
While putting off yourself,
You always devote yourself for us.
I’m happy that once in a while,
You’re able to rest at ease.
From Morimoto Shintaro

Dad is working away from home, and it seems hard for mom to take care of us three siblings all alone. Because it takes about 20 minutes from home to our nearest station by foot, she always drops me off and picks me up with car but sometimes when I come home late at night, it would be too much to ask her to pick me up, so I walk home alone. But, when I arrive home, mom is not sleeping but waiting for me. Even though I say “it’s okay for you to sleep”, she’s absolutely awake. I’m happy for that, but sometimes I become worried like “I wonder how her health is”. But, I think it’s better to not show worried behavior. Because she’s doing it as something obvious that a mother would do, and I think she’s doing her best to not cause troubles for us children or make us worry.

For mom
I really realize
The modest kindness
With which you’re thinking about me.
I can’t always say this but, thank you.
From Tanaka Juri

For the butai ANOTHER, we had evening shows, and when I came home later than usually, mom was awake waiting for me. Only to say to me that ”the meal is ready, so eat it”. After that she said ”you need to get up early tomorrow, so go to sleep then” and went upstairs. Then in the middle of the stairs she stopped and I could hear the steps coming back down. I wondered ”what happened”, then there was the voice of switching on the bath and the steps going upstairs again. At that moment, I was super grateful! So that I could go to bath after eating, she specially came back to turn on the water. Always thinking ahead, taking other’s into consideration. Usually, even if I notice I can’t say this but… thank you.

Family times!

Morimoto Family

Family composition: mother, father, big brother (18), me, little sister (14), dog Chii (male, Akita, 5)

For around a month, the butai and rehearsals continued and I was busy with them and my room was super messy during that whole time. But one day when I came home late at night, my room had been cleaned up and it was super tidy, I was surprised! Next morning, mom asked me while grinning ”were you surprised?” (laughs). I sure hadn’t thought that mom would clean up for me, so I was super happy!

The clothes going to laundry should be sorted. This year from before summer, in Morimoto family, we started using the system to sort the clothes like black ones, white ones, underclothes… like that. I wonder if other families also do this?

Our pride meal
Spare rib
Since 2-3 years ago when it suddenly made an appearance in our table, it’s been my favourite. It’s super delicious!

Tanaka Family

Family composition: mother, father, big brother (38), Koki - big brother (28), big brother (22), me, little brother (14), dog Sora (female, chihuahua)

Once, I was like ”my necklace, hey!” looking for it. Then, my third big brother sent me a pictures, where he was with his friend, saying ”it’s here right now~”. In that pic, around my brother’s neck, was the said necklace… My brother takes and uses mutual stuff as he pleases so sometimes things like this happen. But it was good that the necklace hadn’t been lost.

Even if there are preceding bathers, don’t hold back!
No matter who’s gone to bath before you, if you want to go, don’t wait for it to be free but just break in! This is usual in Tanaka family. I also bath with my brothers ♪

Our pride meal
Sushi (especially hotate*)
Like in a sushi restaurant, dad makes sushi of the toppings you want to eat right there!
*giant ezo scallop

Kyomoto Family

Family composition: mother, father, me, dog Anzu (female, Yorkshire terrier, 2)

Anzu has suddenly become really attention-seeking. During the butai, I couldn’t really play with her, so lately at home she keeps close to me. If I don’t pay attention to her, she poops on purpose somewhere I can see it. She always sleeps with me in my bed but comes to lick my face a lot and barks and no matter how tired I am, she doesn’t really let me sleep... Lately, the lack of sleep is quite hard~ (tear).

After ”tadaima”, playing catch with socks
Right after coming home I take off my socks and pass them to my mom who's in the kitchen. Mom catches them and right away puts them in the laundry basket behind her. It’s a habit since middle school.

Our pride meal
Ginger rice.
To rice cooked with sliced pieces of ginger, we put onion and katsuobushi* and vegetables dressed in soy sauce on it and eat.
*small pieces of sliced, drid bonito[= small fish]

Hagiya Family

Family composition: Grandmother, mother, father, me, little brother (11), dog Shion (male, toy poodle)

Last summer, suddenly in the middle of the night, I heard my mother’s scream “Keigo, help!”. When I went to her room to see what was going on, there was a clamor “there’s a cockroach here!”. I went to battle it with freezing spray. Even though I managed to kill it safely, I was also tattered [after it]. The cockroach went under a piece furniture and when I was lifting it up to move it, the side of it scratched me. It was super painful…

Every morning, without a fail, breakfast!
It’s white rice with miso soup and nattou with one or two side dishes, except if there’s been karee as dinner the day before. Eating properly in the morning is a must!

Our pride meal
Beef stew and garlic toast
We make french bread as garlic toast, and with this small twist, it becomes a lot more delicious!
