When I was a kid, about 11 or so, I used to be a big fan of Choose Your Own Adventure books. Basically, they were books where you played the role of the hero or heroine, and picked your path. I remember I only had one from that series, although I did have a number of the Nintendo Choose Your Own Adventure books.

Ah, I've heard a lot of praise/nostalgia for the Nintendo versions. I was a big Nintendo fan back then, I probably would have jumped at the chance to own one.

You know, my most distinct memory of those books is one that featured 'you' as a space hero, and in it there was some horrible, extremely virulent disease where all your limbs fell off, then you exploded. For years I was convinced I was going to get infected with it.

Thanks for reminding me!

(j/k~ XP You didn't need to remind. I STILL think about it sometimes.)

Wow. That's...graphic. I remember the books could be dark (after all, you did die a lot) but not to THAT degree.

I wonder if that's the one where you went to colonize Venus...? I swear I remember a book where you went to colonize Venus, and there were like jungles and stuff there. But I think somewhere along the line I got that mixed up with a Cowboy Bebop episode.
