This very sweet but very sad man, who I'd chatted with before and who had connected with me via social media, sat near me at a dance a awhile back and cried, first next to me, then me holding him, for hours. Folks kept stopping by to see what was wrong but he had a hard time communicating (I got it, but I'm a bit intuitive that way). 3 of us, myself and 2 others, were clear he ought not to be allowed to go home by himself because it was not at all clear he would make it through the night and it was decided he would come home with me, where he slept next to me while I held him throughout the night. 2 1/2 years later, he is still with me and I cherish him for the gift that he is to me and give gratitude that he is still in my life. Just thought I wold post an alternate version of "I'm not going down with that sinking ship". That sinking ship saved me as much as I saved him.
