Okay, Bijou was great, but I'm honestly kind of shocked she was nominated over Heather. Heather was much more ( Read more... )

Honestly, I thought that Heather was just horrible in that movie. I've yet to see anything since Welcome to the Doll House and The Adventures of Pete and Pete that justifies her still being cast in movies. She was one of my few problems with Hostel 2.

As for Hatchet... I WOULD go see it, but it's not playing in this stupid town :(

There's so much hype for it, though.

not really, though. it's got its hype, but not "so much."

There's a fuckload of hype. They're hyping it up to be something that's never been done before and to be "Old School American Horror" and for all we know we could get there and have it be just like everything else.

Speaking of getting there, when do we plan on going?

there seriously isn't a fuckload. i don't know about when it was first released (it appears that there were plenty of good reviews for it, though), but atleast not NOW. i mean, i'm not denying that there is hype, but it's mainly restricted to horror fans. hype implies that EVERYONE is talking about. hype is like what surrounded 1-18-08 when word of it came about--people who weren't into the genre were talking about it, and talking about it a lot. that's contradictory to say that they're hyping it up to be something that's never been done and then follow it up with their saying that it's old school american horror. the hype that surrounds hatchet relies on the fact that that's what it is--a reversion back to that particular style of film, meaning that it has obviously been done before. but it's not similar to the new wave of horror ( ... )

Hype doesn't imply that people out of genre are talking about it. I mean, technically they are because it's showing a lot of places and a lot of people are curious, but it's in the horror world where there's a shitload of hype. (i.e. The Hatchet Army) And by "never been done before", I meant more like, there hasn't been an Old School horror film out since actual Old School horror, which you obviously understood, so I won't go into that.

Either way, my point is, all the big horror sites/magazines/whatnot are talking about how it's going to be Old School and everything and, I hope they're right, because we could walk in there and have it be nothing great and nothing new.

As for the concert, that'll probably work out, depending on whether or not I'd be getting the Mac because then I need about a hundred dollars to put towards it to begin with, and I don't have that much right now. And what's going on with BRMC? I'd rather see them, to be honest. I'm not sure if I'll end up having the money for both.
