And so today at noon they began my mail migration over to Lotus Notes...or as we like to call it Lotus Nuts. I fought as long as i could against the switch but alas they won. I'm just hoping i don't get the extra 'security' features bossman greg got when they moved him (ie all his mail magically becoming encripted).

Lotus Notes??? People still USE that??? Why do they make you use it?

I hope it's improved since the Windows 95 version....

Its still really shitty. But the top 100-200 people in the VCU administration were using it and the old mail system is slowly but surely dieing. So they decided to go ahead and just make some several thousand people move to a shitty system instead of just moving everyone to something decent. That would have made so much sense. Luckily i don't have to use the stupid program just house my mail there.

Yea, that blows. I'm not surprised though because colleges do tend to think that way...

Hopefully it won't too painful of an experience!! At least you don't have to use the program...

OMFG! I'm so sorry. The only time I ever touched the Lotus Nuts was in '98 when I worked at IBM. They used it, well, because they fucking OWN it. Nobody, and I mean nobody, there enjoyed it.

Seema's company uses it too, and yep, she just asked my about the encryption issue the other day. I just sort of gave her a WTF? and reminded her that we use the anti-secure, but more common Outlook.

yeah it'll be interesting to see how they mess up my mail. They really enjoy randomly not sending mail and stuff like that. Should be fun!
