so, well, this post is about my love for 60s music: under the cut there are several videos and i hope that you can find out stuff you like. :)

-Jefferson Airplaine , Saturday Afternoon (Woodstock)
I don't know much about Jefferson Airplaine, I definitely must find out more stuff, except for the Woodstock music that I discovered through the 4cds stuff that came out for the 40th aniversay last year (lot of books and cds and dvds came out, lol). So, well, I like that they've got both a female and a male voice, it's a mix I definitely appreciate!

-Joe Cocker, With a little help from my friends (Woodstock)
Beatles' cover. and, in my personal and humble opinion, I think the best version ever made of this song.

-Led Zeppelin, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
my knowledge on LZ is all about singles, so I don't have a clue if this is a good live version or not. they should have been to Woodstock, it would have made it easier.lol.Anyway, LZ are weird to me, in a good way though. they had strong blues influences (I guess that blues was really popular with UK kids in the 60s),in fact if you hear to some songs you can definitely hear blues riffs, but if you think about LZ it comes to your mind "heavy rock" or something like that, not blues, right?

-The Kinks, All Day and All of The Night (Shindig)
I get to know this song with "The Boat that Rocked" , and I think they had a great influence on the early Who (and I'm pretty sure that I read that somewhere and I'm not saying it just because lol), first of all but I'm sure lot of other bands. You can hear a lot of different songs in this one.
anyway this was taken from Shindig that was a popular show in the 60s in the US, and I'm pretty sure that the screamings were recorded. How much annoying they can be!?

-Cream , Sunshine of Your Love
Cream was the band that made Eric Clapton famous. It's one of those bands I heard lot of different songs and didn't know who was singing it. White Room, for example.

-Bert Sommer, Smile
the title says everything. I actually don't know anything about Bert Sommer, but this song is so awesome.Couldn't find Woodstock's version, that is the one I've got on my Ipod. Kind of gets you in a good mood.

-Sha Na Na, At The Hop (Woodstock)
Sha Na Na are too funny , and it's a shame I can't find any record by them on Torrent :(

-Jimi Hendrix at Monterey Pop Festival
this piece is not about the music but Jimi's show. I was kind of shocked when I first saw last month.I don't really like Jimi's music, actually. I get bored easily, is too much psychedelic to me, and I don't take drugs so I don't know how the effect to listen his music when you're high.LOL. I liked a lot the incredible US national anthem he made at Woodstock because it meant a lot for the people there, it was some sort of unifying moment. Anyway, Monterey Pop was a festival that was, for some ways, an "early" Woodstock. It happened in 1967, in Monterey, California, and had a lot of artists that then were on Woodstock. Jimi Hendrix first of all, the Who, Jefferson Airplaine if I'm not wrong. Maybe some more people, I can't remember all the list. LOL.
Anyway, funny story: both Who and Hendrix usually smashed guitars after the shows (Who actually did it first), so they had a fight about who was going to go on stage before, and they resolved the fight with a coin. The Who went on stage before but I think they took some acid (well. WEIRD!), and they didn't perform very well, also had problem with technical stuff, so Jimi totally did a better performance. But at least they smashed the guitar (and drum kit) before.

-Crosby, Stills and Nash , Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (Woodstock)
CSN were a new act in the 1969 when Woodstock happened, it was really the 2nd time they ever played together, so it must have been really hard for them. I don't think this is a great performance but my knowledge on CSN is on their albums and I don't know any good live!?

-Crosby Stills and Nash , Woodstock
The song "Woodstock" was actually by Joni Mitchell who DIDN'T go to Woodstock because she had to go to some talk-show (OMG!), so she wrote it, and it gives me shiver anytime I hear it. IT's CSN who made that famous, I think. They even put it in the Woodstock's documentary, this is the scene where you can hear it.

-Jeff Beck Group, Beck's Bolero
this has Keith Moon on drums, enough said.(oh, and well also Jimmy Page on rythm guitar and John Paul Jones on bass.LOL.)
I think it was during this recording that they were thinking of starting a big group together, Keith was always on the edge of leaving the Who - but then Tommy happened, and well, also Led Zeppelin.:D

The Beach Boys - Don't Worry Baby
I first thought of Wouldn't it Be Nice, because Pet Sounds is such a good album, but then I thought of this one because is not well-known as the other. Beach Boys were a surf band and I like this kind of music because it makes you feel happy so easily. this one, with the chorus "don't worry baby, everything is going to turn out all-right", makes me "calm down" a lot.

-The Who , a Quick One While He's Aways (Rolling Stones Circus)
This song for me is one of Who's masterpiece, often forgotten (not by true fans, I would say). People often know Tommy , the CSI songs (as Baba O'Riley , Won't Get Fooled Again & Who Are You) and maybe Quadrophenia but only by name, usually. The early stuff is not well-known, and this song for me is so awesome that it's a shame. This version is my favourite one, from Rolling Stones Circus, a show that the RS planned to do but apparently they didn't play so well so at the end they decided not to air it. I think maybe recently a dvd or something came out about it!? anyway, they're so amazing here. Keith behind drums makes me so laugh, and Pete's faces. LOL.(I think I could talk about every single minute of these piece, I've seen it so many times :|). I first saw it on The Kids Are Alright, a documentary about the Who made in 1978, and it was love at first sight.Or first hearing, depends. The day after I listened to the song like 10 times, while going and coming back from university.

-The Who, See Me Feel Me (Woodstock)
So, I can talk about this song for hours, and I'm pretty sure I could cry like a baby. This live is so awesome, and I always laugh when I hear/read Pete and Roger that say that is a bad performance, maybe because it means a lot to me, and I can't see the mistakes, if there are any. The INTENSITY of it is so big, it's incredible to think that before playing they had to wait for hours and were really pissed off.
